Alicja Nowicz

Works in many media (performance, video installations, ceramics, painting, drawing). She embodies personalities who create parallel biographies and engage in multiple social contexts (Beati Jolanda Niesyta, Radek Morszczuk).

Creating narrations, balancing between fiction and reality, humor and seriousness are for the artist inseparable elements of her work. She uses paradox and contrast to explore themes such as the relative value of art, appearances, stereotypes, the dominance of Western culture, Eastern European identity, the power of "barbarism," modernization and memory. She studied, among others, at the Edinburgh College of Art and the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam and takes part in exhibitions abroad and in Poland.
